Photos on Boston Bus Show

WHEN I was student living in San Francisco in the 1960’s, I rode buses and cable cars every day.  I knew the system so well, I could transfer back to where I started, saving a fare.  Jumping on and off a moving cable car was normal.   The whole town rode the bus, not just your friends.

One day I was about to offer some photographic tips to an elderly woman (Imogen Cunningham) carrying a Twin Lens Reflex, when suddenly I realized I was in the presence of a master. The only thing that didn’t fit were the ads.  They were a jangling affront.  Around this time I modified a business machine to print photographs about the size of the bus ads.  From that came the Bus Shows.
